Days of yore

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
May your heart be light, from now on our troubles will be out of sight
Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Make the yuletide gay
From now on our troubles will be miles away
Here we are, as in olden days, happy golden days of yore
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Will be near to us once more
Through the years we all will be together, if the fates allow
Hang a shining star up on the highest bough
And have yourself a merry little Christmas now

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas was written 75 years ago for Judy Garland to sing in the movie Meet Me in St Louis.  Back then, movie-goers likely hummed that catchy tune as they streamed out of the cinemas headed for home, summoning up the “olden days, happy golden days of yore,” just like we harken back to the “days of yore” when we sing it today.

Beautiful old Christmas carols, like this one, string ribbons through one generation to the next as we sing them year after year. Ribbons of hope, positivity and love.
